George Sellis is a Partner at Hogan Marren Babbo & Rose, Ltd who provides regulatory, privacy and corporate services to clients in the education and healthcare sectors. George’s education practice focuses on state authorization, accreditation, and U.S. Department of Education compliance. George assists his clients with the issues that arise during extraordinary events such as mergers, acquisitions, or administrative litigation, as well as managing the everyday questions which institutions, edtech providers, and vendors may have in the ordinary course of business.
George’s healthcare experience focuses on compliance, and George has assisted hospitals, insurers, and other healthcare service providers in navigating the extensive federal and state regulatory environment. Specifically, George has developed insurance policies which comply with the complex and conflicting state and federal directives and has assisted providers with medical licensing, corporate practice of medicine, and Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services compliance issues.
Finally, George has strong corporate governance and contracting experience, having managed governance issues for entities ranging from small liberal colleges to international logistics networks.
George joined HMBR in 2017. Prior to joining HMBR, George clerked for the Honorable Deborah Mary Dooling in the Circuit Court of Cook County Law Division and served as in-house counsel for an international shipping conglomerate. While clerking, he assisted the court with issues ranging from aviation accidents and mass tort cases to surety company authorization. During his time as in-house counsel, George managed international maritime commercial arbitrations and negotiated agreements with entities worldwide.
