Jorge Perez-Casellas

Jorge Pérez-Casellas is an attorney with more than 20 years of experience in legal and advisory matters pertaining to healthcare regulation, operational strategies, and conflict resolution. He provides operational, compliance and privacy advisory services as well as interim compliance support services.
He recently completed a tenure as Interim Chief Compliance Officer of one of the most preeminent Academic Medical Centers of the US, located in Los Angeles, California and currently serves as Interim Chief Compliance and Privacy Officer for another renowned AMC Hospital System located in Palo Alto, California.
Throughout his 24-year legal and consulting career, Jorge has assisted several corporations in complex regulatory analysis, including hospitals, major payor organizations and ambulatory surgery centers. He also has a specialty in the field of commercial transactions and financing, including serving as a principal outside counsel for one of the major banking institutions in Puerto Rico. In recent years, his practice has shifted toward regulatory compliance including healthcare, grant management and governmental compliance.
As a consultant, Jorge served as interim regulatory compliance director for an 11-hospital system in Georgia, as interim chief compliance officer for one of Chicago’s largest healthcare systems, and completed an extended engagement as interim director, compliance program integrity, for one of the most prestigious academic medical centers in Palo Alto, California. His work in an interim capacity includes extensive compliance oversight of clinical practices at over 240 sites. He has assisted healthcare organizations with the rollout of operational reorganizations to comply with new regulations as well as corrective actions. He has performed internal investigations and audits for both billing compliance and privacy matters.
Mr. Perez-Casellas has assisted governmental entities in the effective and compliant distribution of CARES Act funds to private and public entities, providing implementation and advisory services so that the governmental assistance reaches those in more need due to the COVID-19 pandemic, specifically healthcare institutions.
Mr. Perez-Casellas completed the LLM degree in healthcare law with a compliance concentration at Loyola University Chicago School of Law. He is experienced in policy development and interpretation, Stark Law, and the Anti-Kickback Statute, as well as analytical solutions to system-wide compliance glitches, including the implementation of tailored compliance programs.
Mr. Perez-Casellas has been affiliated with Hogan Marren Babbo & Rose, Ltd. since February, 2024.
